Coppa Italia
In US-sports termsItaly's cup — but unlike England's or Germany's, it's seeded so the big clubs can't meet a village team in round one. Less Cinderella, more NBA play-in with a trophy.
What it is
Italy's knockout cup — around 44–48 clubs from Serie A, B and a few below, with a bracket seeded so the top eight enter at the Round of 16.
How you get in
Be in the top two divisions (or qualify from just below); the giants parachute in late.
What it feeds
Winner → Europa League (cascade applies) and the Supercoppa.
The seeding means genuine giant-killings are rarer than in England or Germany — Italy optimized its cup for TV finals, not fairy tales.
