Bundesliga
In US-sports termsThe league where fans actually own the teams — Germany's 50+1 rule keeps supporters in control, tickets cheap, and stadiums standing-room loud. Green Bay's ownership model, applied to a whole league.
What it is
Germany's top flight — 18 clubs (the smallest of the Big Five), the highest average attendances in world soccer, and a famous fan-first culture built on the 50+1 ownership rule.
How you get in
Finish clear of the bottom three, or come up from 2. Bundesliga.
What it feeds
Top 4 → Champions League. 5th → Europa League. 6th → Conference League (cup-winner cascade applies). Bottom 2 drop automatically — and 16th place plays a two-game playoff against the third-best second-tier club for the last seat.
That 16th-place relegation playoff is unique among the Big Five — a win-or-die series for survival. Bayern Munich, meanwhile, have treated the title as personal property for most of a decade.
